Scott Feldman’s career in the music industry has ranged from startups and beginners to stadium superstars. At the beginning, a fluke internship with one of Boston’s most legendary disc jockeys became a fulltime position producing Boston’s legendary “Big Mattress” morning broadcast hosted by Charles Laquidara and heard by millions each day on WZLX. During four years at ‘ZLX, Scott booked guests, coordinated multiple remote broadcasts, wrote endless amounts of on-air copy, brewed nearly 5,000 pots of coffee, and thrived on being a hands-on player in one of Boston’s most beloved radio broadcasts.
Following his studies, Scott became the National Promotions Manager and Director of Media Relations for music startup Rock.com in Hollywood. Scott programmed their pioneering online radio stations, and created programs and partnerships with Sony Music, Capitol Records, Universal Music, Ticketmaster, and others. While at Rock.com, site traffic grew by over 800% ultimately reaching over 2 million unique users per month, and Rock.com’s radio stations broadcast over 50 million tracks per year – directly attributable to Scott’s industry insight and tenacity.
As a precursor to podcasting, Scott recorded and broadcast an online interview series with many of the industry’s luminaries including Bob Weir, Mick Fleetwood, Blink 182, Suzanne Vega, John Doe, Dream Theater, and more. Scott then created one of the first marketing teams at Nimbit – an early DIY artist sales and distribution platform. During that time, Scott was a featured panelist at NEMO and CMJ, and generated 82% growth in site traffic over a one-year period. Scott next worked with OurStage.com developing partnerships with entities including the Newport Folk Festival, John Lennon Songwriting Contest, and Virgin Records.
Scott founded D.I.-Why in 2010 to create solid foundations and scalable growth for many artists and organizations. Clients included Dave Mason, ROZES, Jan Hammer, Howie Day, The Oedipus Project, Guster, Augustines, and many others.
Scott’s recent experience with City Winery brought exceptional talent, promotion and profit to a struggling location. Working in tandem with programming and marketing, Scott assisted in booking talent alongside creating successful promotional campaigns. At City Winery, Scott worked directly with a wide range of talent including Melissa Etheridge, internet phenom Zachariah Porter, Sonja Morgan, Jimmy Webb, D.L. Hughley, and other influencers, entertainers, and athletes.
When he has spare time, Scott enjoys sunsets, long walks on the beach, and kittens.
